SAN JOSE, USA: Bright Computing, vendor-independent provider of management solutions for clusters and clouds, is now a supporting organization of the OpenStack Foundation.
The goal of Bright's OpenStack initiative is to simplify the task of deploying and managing private clouds based on the OpenStack platform.
OpenStack is an open source cloud platform that enables service providers, enterprises, government agencies, and academic institutions to implement cloud computing solutions. It is used in industries that range from telecommunications to SaaS and eCommerce to finance and healthcare.
Bright's contribution to the OpenStack community will focus on improving the installation, configuration, monitoring, and management of OpenStack deployments. By making OpenStack easier to deploy and manage, Bright hopes to accelerate the adoption of this open cloud platform.
"OpenStack is a powerful, comprehensive cloud platform that can be challenging to set up," said Martijn de Vries, CTO at Bright Computing. "We make the process easier by bringing our server management expertise to OpenStack. Our customers will no longer have to deal with the more challenging aspects of OpenStack deployments."
Bright Computing previewed Bright Cluster Manager's OpenStack support at the SC13 Supercomputing conference in Denver last month. General availability is planned for Q1, 2014.
