Solyndra is a manufacturer of cylindrical photovoltaic systems for commercial rooftops.

Brian quit Numonyx while it merged with Micron Technology Inc recently. Chris Gronet, the present CEO and founder of Solyndra, will continue as its chairman.

The company, after a recent setback, stated that it has launched a request with the Securities and Exchange Commission to withdraw its registration Form S-1, which was originally filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on December 18, 2009. The company had also applied for a second loan guarantee from the DoE, for an amount of around $469 million to fund the Phase II of its production line in Fremont.

According to a recent filing, the company commenced commercial shipments of their photovoltaic systems in July 2008 and showed progress in their sales and revenue every quarter since then. The company sold 17.2 megawatts of panels in the nine months.
