BPLnet.com, Indiaproperties.com to offer Net ready buildings

PUNE: BPLnet.com (P) Ltd., the Internet company of the Bangalore-based BPL group, is tying up with Indiaproperties.com to create Internet Ready buildings (IRBs). The Internet company is looking for highly customised alliances in a bid to offer value added services to the consumer. BPLnet already has a tie-up with Indiaproperties.com, the India specific property site which serves as a property channel for the horizontal portal. Indiaproperties has over 50,000 sellers and receives between 350 to 370 inquiries per day.

Anup Verma, Chief Operating Officer, BPLnet.com (P) Ltd said that the builders were quite excited about the idea of offering dedicated Internet connections. The alliance is expected to become operational in October when some of the builders registered with the portal would come forward to attempt this concept. Anup Verma was in Pune to address a seminar for corporates on the topic `Net enabling the Enterprise'.

The company's expansion plans include laying of 6,000 km optic fibre cable to offer high bandwidth mostly in the Southern states of Karanataka and Mumbai. The process has already begun in Maharashrtra. Verma is confident that the optic fibre will help the company to overcome the problems of last mile coverage and also reduce their dependence on the DoT in the bargain.

BPLnet has a subscriber base of 20,000 users in seven cities. It also has around 178 corporate users. The Internet company has a presence in seven cities. Another four cities remain to be covered.
