Borland unveils Jbuilder version, to open more offices in India

CHENNAI: Borland Software Corporation, an e-business implementation platforms

company, plans to set up new offices in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkota.

Borland had set up its wholly owned subsidiary office in Bangalore in Nov 2000

to look after its marketing operations in India.

Borland Software is hosting a series of technology seminars in six Indian

cities - Kolkota, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bangalore, to educate

software developers on J2EE and Web Services.

"Though we are a late entrant in India we are sure to achieve in six

months what other MNC companies could do only in three years. Since 1981 we have

been distributing our products through our distributors - Ingram Micro and

Wipro," said Sam Ghebranious, managing director, Indian subcontinent.

"We are conducting seminars to create awareness about our technology, which

can be used to develop, deploy, integrate and manage software applications. The

first phase of the seminar is targeted at the developers and in the second phase

we will be conducting similar seminars for CIOs and CTOs," he said.

Meanwhile, the company has launched the latest version of its product --

JBuilder 6, built on Java environment, which is being shipped to India. Built on

open standards such as Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE), JBuilder

allows organizations to adopt the latest technology innovations to move their

development projects forward without abandoning existing investments. JBuilder 6

allows users to build and deploy applications on Windows, Linux, Solaris and now

on Mac platform also. It is available in three editions: Enterprise,

Professional and Personal.

Borland, which conducts Certification Program, is planning to inaugurate

their training center in India. "We are planning to start our training

center within a period of three to six months for which we are looking for

education partners. We will train and certify them on our technology to teach

our products," said Sam Ghebranious.

In India, L&T, ICICI, WaysIndia (a financial portal), Siemens, Motorola,

various state governments, Bharti, Airtel are the customers of Borland.

Borland's Development Platform consists of products designed to develop

high-performance applications with a fast time-to-market. Borland allows

companies to develop applications for any architecture including Java, Linux,

Solaris, Windows, Mac OSX. The products that support Borland's Development

Platform include Borland Jbuilder, Borland Kylix, Borland C++Builder, Borland

Delphi, Borland Enterprise Studio, Java and Windows Editions, Borland TeamSource

DSP (Development Services Platform).
