BANGALORE: Borland Software Corporation has introduced its application lifecycle management (ALM) strategy for the Microsoft .NET framework, integrating the definition, design, development, testing, and deployment stages of the software application lifecycle. This solution underscores the company's ongoing relationship with Microsoft, and provides .NET Connected technologies, like CaliberRM, StarTeam, Optimizeit Profiler for the Microsoft .NET Framework, and InterBase. The ALM strategy for the Microsoft .NET Framework will also include the new Borland C#Builder, the first independent development environment for the Microsoft.NET Framework.

As part of this “accelerating the development” of .NET Connected applications, Borland will soon launch Borland C#Builder for the Microsoft .NET Framework, a standards-based integrated development environment built on the C# programming language. C#Builder provides design driven development that hopes to increase team productivity, as well as support for direct interoperability between .NET, J2EE and CORBA to simplify and reduce the cost of integration with existing technology investments. C#Builder also delivers high-performance native support for major enterprise-class databases to provide fast, easy and flexible database development.

To address the early phases of the Microsoft .NET Framework application lifecycle, Borland leverages requirements management and change management technology obtained through the recent acquisition of StarBase. The successful integration of Borland CaliberRM into the Borland product suite provides powerful impact analysis and management capabilities, including customizable traceability within each stage of development.

This enterprise class requirements management offering works to ensure that teams are notified of requirement changes thoughout each stage of the software application lifecycle. Borland StarTeam provides easy management and access to development assets, providing integrated support for team discussion, file, change, requirements and task management. The Borland StarTeam Software Development Kit is an open Java and COM API that supports the development of custom solutions in the Microsoft .NET Framework.

In the testing phase, Borland recently introduced Optimizeit Profiler for the Microsoft .NET Framework, a developer-centric solution designed to make performance tuning easier while speeding the delivery of high-performance .NET Framework-based applications. Optimizeit Profiler supports all .NET managed code and provides real-time performance profiling that helps developers solve performance issues quickly and focus on creating fast, scalable and reliable applications.

As enterprises move from the testing phase to the deployment phase of the application lifecycle, Borland InterBase, a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-ready embedded database, utilizes Borland Data Provider (BDP) technology to help developers and administrators monitor users and user activity on the database, as well as database performance statistics. BDP also allows organizations to connect a variety of databases to C#Builder for the development of Microsoft .NET Framework based applications. Microsoft Visual Studio developers can also use InterBase as an alternative to SQLServer for .NET Connected applications.

"As the first licensee of the Microsoft .NET Framework Software Developer Kit for distribution, Borland is committed to provide Microsoft .NET Connected solutions that support the complete software application lifecycle," said Satyen Parikh, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, Borland ,"Our .NET Connected solutions are uniquely tailored to the needs of today's enterprises, building on the Borland history of platform independence to help leverage past technology investments and deliver better software, faster."
