BANGALORE: Borland Software Corporation and Nokia have agreed to integrate the Nokia Developer's Suite for the Personal Java Application Environment with Borland JBuilder. The PersonalJava Application Environment from Sun Microsystems is a Java platform for building network-connectable applications for consumer devices. The integrated Nokia and Borland offers features, services and tools for mobile application developers to create and install next generation applications.

Borland India, country head, Ajay Mohan "This clearly demonstrates Borland's leadership in the Java development environment - using JBuilder would equip wireless Java developers to rapidly deliver a full spectrum of next generation applications for mobile phones."

"Borland's state-of-the-art Java development environment, combined with Nokia's mobile application software expertise offers a leading solution for today's developers," said Timo Saraketo, director of Forum Nokia.

The Nokia Developer's Suite, integrated with JBuilder, simplifies Java development, enabling mobile application developers to create applications for the Nokia 9210 Communicator, a mobile device for the Symbian platform that combines cellular phone, email, high-resolution color display and multimedia capabilities. The Nokia 9210 Communicator is the first Nokia product to support commonly used PC office applications and is the first with mobile Java support. The Nokia Developer's Suite can be downloaded from Forum Nokia at www.forum.nokia.com.

Earlier this year, Borland and Nokia collaborated to offer Borland Jbuilder MobileSet, Nokia Edition to rapidly enable software development for Nokia's Java-enabled phones. MobileSet, Nokia Edition includes special visual design tools along with the standards-based, industry-leading features of JBuilder to enable Nokia's community of more than 500,000 mobile application developers to innovate next-generation products with leading applications.
