Borland India, the Indian subsidiary of Borland Corporation Inc., USA, is
planning to increase its presence in India through its partners. The company is
focussing on three types of partners in India, Original Equipment Manufacturers,
training providers and consultants, apart from their existing distributors and
system integrator partners.
"It is important for the company to increase and establish presence in
India, considered to be one of the fastest growing market in the Asia Pacific
region. Borland is taking the partner program way to increase the presence in
the country and strategically focussing at the OEMs, Training companies and
Consultants. These companies would leverage our position in the market by
supporting our Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools," said
Borland India’s country manager, Ajay Mohan.
Refusing to divulge numbers and names of the partners to be appointed in
India, Mohan, disclosed that most of the partners to be in India are existing
customers of Borland. The training partners will offer specified and specialized
courses on Borland’s technology and tools and the company is in the process of
appointing franchisees and the courses are expected to roll in the next couple
of months. Currently the company is offering the "Train the trainer"
course to the faculties of the training institutes.
These efforts by Borland in India is in line to increase the professionals
services offerings. While professional services contributes 19 percent of
Borland’s Corporation’s revenue, in India it is yet to take off
significantly. The company has identified that this will be the year, where
Borland will not only offer these services but will also gain significantly.
It has appointed a technology head to roll out a consultant team, both with
in and third party, and set up a technical support center in Bangalore for the
Indian customers. The company has set up a office in Mumbai apart from its
regional head quarters in Bangalore and will be setting up next n Calcutta and
Chennai as the future branch offices.
In India, Wipro Infotech, Sonata Technologies and Ingram Micro distribute,
sell and market shrink wrapped products of Borland.
