CHENNAI: In order to provide 100 per cent scholarship on training and R&D
to Indian students, Hyderabad-based Bodhtree.com has forged alliances with
E-studies.com Inc and the Canadian College of Business Computers (CCBC). The
scholarship is for an Advanced Diploma in Internet Technologies, which includes
hands-on software development and R&D work as well. Bodhtree.com will assist
its partners in selecting candidates for the program.
The scholarship of 37,000 Canadian dollars (Rs 11 lakh) will be for an
18-month course. E-studies.com requires 150 students with bachelor degrees in
engineering or science. Of these, 30 will be awarded a 100 per cent scholarship
based on merit, and the rest can avail of partial scholarships. The course will
leverage E-speak, a technology developed by Hewlett Packard (HP) with whom
E-studies has a tie-up. E-speak will be used to develop Internet based
e-services applications.
The course is a research program and not a normal credit course, the focus
being on developing particular skill sets and then applying them in practice to
solve a practical problem. Initially, a few credit courses as classroom
instructions, related to the project will be offered, for a maximum for 2-4
weeks. It will be followed by `on the job" learning. One year after the
launch of the scholarship, the company plans to form a joint venture with CCBC
and E-studies and bring online education programs to India.
"We will be given the exclusive rights by E-studies to impart online
education in India. The local content and infrastructure will be provided by
us," said Sanjiv Gupta, Director, Bodhtree.com. "The scholarship will
revolutionalize the delivery of education and training in the 21st
century," said Sanjay Verma, Director, Bodhtree.com. The entire registering
process can be done online at www.bodhtree.com.
The selected candidates will be sent to CCBC for training and will undertake
research projects at E-studies.com, which is a California-based company
providing online education.
