B'lore mobile gamer is south India champ

BANGALORE: Nokia announced that Mohammad Saifullah from Bangalore with a score of 3010 was the top scorer of the South India Silver Round of the Nokia 'N-Gage QD Challenge Mobile Gaming Championship'. Syed Shahid from Chennai with a score of 2910, and Mohammad Abdul Rahim Akbar from Chennai with a score of 2680, were the other two highest scorers in the Chennai Silver Round. These three along with other qualifiers will represent South India in the Gold Round of the Championship that will be held in Mumbai on October 31, 2004. Their travel to Mumbai and stay there for their participation in the Gold round will be at Nokia's cost.



The South India Silver Round of the 'N-Gage QD Challenge Mobile Gaming Championship' was held at the Trident Hotel, Chennai. This leg of the competition saw the top gamers in South India, who had qualified through the Bronze round of the Championship, compete to qualify for the Gold Round of the championship. After a day long competition in a specially created gaming arena the top gamers with the highest scores qualified to move into the final Gold Round of the championship.



Launched on September 14, 2004, The N-Gage QD Challenge Mobile Gaming Championship is India's first mobile gaming championship. The championship has received an enthusiastic response in its bronze phase with over 32,000 gamers across 40 cities having participated in the competition so far. The South India Silver Round was the first of four regional playoffs that will be held between October 9 and October 24, 2004. Post the completion of the four Silver Rounds the final Gold Round of the competition will be held in Mumbai on October 31st, 2004 where the winner of the championship will win a bumper prize of Rs 10 lakhs.
