BANGALORE: Out of the 1400 IT companies that have their presence in Bangalore, 70 are British companies. Reiterating the interest of UK companies in setting up shop in the city, Michael Arthur, the British High Commissioner to India said, "Bangalore has become a hub for UK's IT companies with some of them like TESCO, Reuters and Misys having a major presence here."

He stated that new companies like Bluebox, a hardware company and Randox, an Irish company that has opened its first overseas unit in Bangalore are the newest ones to come to the city.

Speaking on the relationship between Indian and British companies he said, "We look to forge partnerships so that both countries can move up the knowledge value chain."

He added that the extent of close ties between the countries could be gathered from the fact that more Indian companies are listed on the London Stock Exchange than those on the NASDAQ and NYSE together.
