BlackBerry Torch 9860 launched in India

MUMBAI, INDIA: Research In Motion (RIM), today announced the launch of its new smart phone BlackBerry Torch 9860 for the Indian market.

The smartphone features the new BlackBerry 7 operating system and a stylish all-touch handset design. It comes with large 3.7 inch display for optimized display of web pages, photos, videos and powerful gaming experiences.

“We are very excited to build on the success of the BlackBerry solution in India with the introduction of the new BlackBerry Torch 9860. This powerful new smartphone features many new enhancements including the next generation BlackBerry 7 operating system and we think customers will be practically thrilled by the faster performance, enhanced browsing and richer multimedia,” said Frenny Bawa, Research In Motion’s managing director — India.

According to RIM, the BlackBerry 7 operating system provides users with a fast and intuitive experience through the next generation BlackBerry browser and voice-activated searches. It also has ability to manage personal content separately from corporate content along with personal and productivity apps out of the box.

Compared to BlackBerry 6 based smartphones, the new BlackBerry Torch 9860 delivers up to 40 per cent faster browsing results and up to twice as fast as BlackBerry 5 smartphones.

It also features Liquid Graphics technology that combines a dedicated high-performance graphics processor with a faster CPU and high resolution display to deliver a highly responsive touch interface with fast and smooth graphics.

BlackBerry Torch 9860 will be available across the company’s franchise retailers in coming 2-3 weeks time and is priced at Rs.28490.
