Having a lead over other available security solutions with the ‘gamer mode’ enabling an auto configuration for the computer instead of the manual interaction mode, the company is now taking an aggressive stance in one of the most competitive markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are focused on having more channel initiatives as Bit Defender has been a channel-friendly company. From lead generation to roadshow support, up to partner e-learning programs, we just want to tell our channel partners that we are there to help taking an extra step to implement a long awaited PRM that will help the partners organize their efforts and be closer to us,” commented Khalid Muasher, Channel Manager—APAC-EMEA, Bit Defender.

“Right now, we are looking forward to consolidate our position and maintain our momentum by offering the best support to resellers. We believe that by offering the best services and not only the best products, one can be really competitive”, he emphasized.

The new product package in the 2009 family has been designed to offer proactive, state-of-the-art protection for both home and corporate users with an improved, real-time scanner for web, e-mail and instant messaging traffic and proactively protect the user against new, undiscovered virus outbreaks using advanced heuristics. The newest technological innovations to the product line-up include encryption for all the Instant Messenger conversations and a brand-new laptop mode that automatically detects when the notebook is running on battery power in order to increase the battery lifespan.

The Gamer Mode automatically detects the application as a game and opens the necessary ports in the firewall module. Moreover, when in Gamer Mode, the anti-virus reduces the system load and avoids requesting user interaction.

Commenting on the technology, Vitor Souza, Global Communication Manager, Bit Defender commented, “The BitDefender 2009 products are more than anti-virus utilities, as they can perform online backups for critical data, keep sensitive information away from prying eyes in the encrypted File Vault and also unrecoverably erase unwanted files and ‘traces’ of files, thus minimizing the risk of identity theft by preventing the leakage of personal information”

“Unlike other security solutions, BitDefender products don’t just depend on a list of pre-existing viruses, but rather utilize the patent-pending B-HAVE technology which can identify even brand new threats and attacks. All BitDefender products include 24 hour toll-free technical support and hourly updates,” he added.

Presently, Bit Defender is primarily catering to both SOHO and business segments in India. Looking ahead to increase its presence, the company is targeting to reach niche markets with specific needs like gamers community, mobile segment, multi-media community.
