Bird lands Sri Lankan airline contract

NEW DELHI: Bird Information Systems (BIS), a provider of automated aviation and travel related software solutions, said that it has partnered with Sri Lanka’s low-cost airline, Mihin Lanka for the use of its Airline Inventory and Reservations System (AIRS).

Under the terms of the contract signed between the two entities, Bird Information Systems will provide Mihin Lanka the booking technology for the Airline Inventory Hosting, reservation at city and airport offices, call centers and the internet booking engine. For airport operations, a unique state-of-the-art Departure Control System will be made available. Travel agencies would benefit from a distribution interface and a unique integrated application within using AIRS.

Commenting on the partnership, Ankur Bhatia, Executive Director, Bird Information Systems said, “Our expertise in providing cutting-edge technology for the travel & aviation industry as well as our continued focus on service excellence has resulted in strong relationships in the entire SAARC region. According to Kapila Chandrasena, CEO, Mihin Lanka, “By associating with the Bird Group, we have ensured that our airline is powered by state-of-the-art technology that integrates all levels of operation. Through AIRS, we have acquired a hosting solution that is cost-effective and yet enables us to integrate seamlessly across our distribution channel network comprising ATOs (Airline Ticketing Office), CTOs (City Ticketing Office), call centers, travel agencies and the end-customers.”

AIRS, a revolutionary web based application solution offers airlines a state-of-the-art, user-friendly solutions from the bookings stage to the check-in process. A unique feature of AIRS is its user friendly GUI (graphical user interface) which will enable Mihin Lanka partners - be it travellers or travel agents - to make online reservations quickly and easily. End users also get real-time access to the best fares and seat availability details at the click of a mouse. Additionally, AIRS enables the airline to maintain complete passenger records, thus facilitating the creation and upgradation of customer profiles.
