Version 5.3 of TMTP adds more support for infrastructure components and can judge transaction performance on the basis of the response time experienced by the user of a Web site. The software keeps track of each transaction and shows the performance problem related to it, informed Paul Spicer, marketing manager for TMTP.

This upgrade sends an alert to system managers if timing of a particular transaction exceeds the 'normal' response time. Users have the option of changing the threshold to fit their own standards, said the report.

TMTP can now cover web servers and several IBM products, including CICS, a transaction-processing monitor; the Information Management System, or IMS, for mainframes; and the DB2 database. It also offers support for Web services
