Bidding value reaches Rs. 96,000cr on day seven of spectrum auction

BANGALORE, INDIA: After a slight dip in the bidding value on the sixth day of the spectrum auction, the provisional bidding value have rose again to Rs. 96,000 crore on the seventh day.

Brisk bidding was seen on the seventh day of spectrum auction, with activity requirement set at 100 percent, according to a telecom department statement.

Aggressive bidding has been seen for the 2G spectrum in 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands.

Madhya Pradesh saw an excess demand for the 800 MHz band.

Demands for the 900 MHz band have been seen in the Asaam, North East, Rajasthan and West Bengal circles.

Demands for the 1800 MHz band have been seen in the Kolkata and Haryana circles.

The 3G spectrum in 2100MHz band has still not have been able to garner much interest from the bidders. Bidding in the 3G band has been done for Assam and Rajasthan circles only so far.

Over 84pc of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders till now. Majority of service areas are going at a premium over reserve price. The government is eyeing at least Rs. 100,000 crore from this auction.

There is still spectrum to be sold even after 43 rounds of bidding during the last seven days. The competitive bidding is expected to continue for some more days.
