BICSI and TSSC collaborate to build ICT skill sets

BANGALORE, INDIA: To spur technology innovation, and promote best practice among the ICT community, BICSI, the association advancing the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) in India.

TSSC is an industry-led apex body, jointly set up by The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Indian Cellular Association (ICA) and Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) to ensure adequate availability of skilled manpower to boost growth and productivity in the Telecom Sector.

According to TSSC, the Indian Telecom sector has emerged as one of the greatest economic success stories, registering a consistent overall growth rate of more than 35 percent over the past decade in terms of subscribers.

The purpose of the MoU is to foster the growth and advancement of the ICT industry through collaboration and information sharing on education and training, credential and certification events, marketing, and standards development.

“TSSC is glad to partner with BICSI in establishing skilling centres and delivering programmes on structured cabling design and installation to meet the demands of the ever-growing ICT industry,” said Lt Gen (Dr) S P Kochhar, CEO of the TSSC.

“We intend to leverage the technical knowledge and expertise based on the global best practices created by an industry body like BICSI,” said he.
