BANGALORE, INDIA: Bhaskar Pramanik, who was vice president (volume business) at Sun Microsystems, has been appointed as the MD of Oracle India. Pramanik will be replacing Krishan Dhawan, who has relinquished his position after serving Oracle for five years, said a Times of India report.
An Oracle communique confirmed the development to TOI. Oracle last year had acquired Sun for $7.4 billion.
According to Wikipedia, Bhaskar, has more than 30 years experience in the Indian IT industry, is an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Bhaskar has held several senior management positions in companies like Digital Equipment India Ltd., Blue Star Ltd., and NELCO. At Digital Equipment, he was Director, Enterprise Sales, Digital Equipment Asia Pacific Pte.Ltd., Singapore.
In his earlier role as Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Digital Equipment India Ltd., Bhaskar was part of the original Country Management Team responsible for setting up the joint venture in India.
