NEW DELHI: Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd., India's top mobile services firm, plans to outsource its call centre operations to several companies in a contract estimated at up to $230 million, a source told Reuters on Monday.
No other details were available. Bharti officials could not be reached for comment.
Over the past two years Bharti, 30.8 percent owned by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd., has outsourced building and maintenance of GSM networks and IT infrastructure to global firms such as Ericsson and IBM mainly to drive down costs.
Bharti, which has 12.2 million GSM mobile users, has called a news conference at 2:30 p.m. to make a "major announcement".
