Bharti Teletech ties up with Transcend

BANGALORE, INDIA: Bharti Teletech, India’s leading manufacturer and distributor of telecom and allied products, today said that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Transcend Information Inc., a leading global player in the Memory accessories business.

Under the alliance, Bharti Teletech will sell and distribute the entire portfolio of Transcend products in India. Transcend will be able to leverage Bharti Teletech’s extensive retail network of over 36000 retailers spread across 3600 towns in the country, said a press release.

The alliance will place Bharti and Transcend in a strong position to capitalise on the increasing demand for telecom and IT accessories in the Indian market, it added.

Bharti Teletech will distribute the Transcend range of Memory Flash Cards in the first phase. In the second phase, the company will start distributing other products from Transcend, such as USB pen drives, MP3 players, digital photo frames, portable HDD and multimedia products and memory modules.

The extensive distribution network coupled with the strong association of Bharti Teletech with Modern Retail Outlets and Large format retail stores will enable Transcend to consolidate its presence in India, the release said.

Announcing the alliance, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice chairman and managing director, Bharti Teletech said, “The partnership with Transcend will enable Bharti Teletech to strengthen its position as the leading distributor of allied telecom and technology.”

According to Peter Shu, CEO, Transcend Information, the partnership “would enable Transcend to further consolidate its position in the Indian Market.”

With a focus on becoming India’s finest distribution company by 2012, Bharti Teletech is in talks with leading technology companies for distribution alliances, the release added.

“I am confident that the alliance would be mutually beneficial for both the companies and the future would see us growing and further strengthening this strategic alliance,” said Sunil Goyal, CEO, Bharti Teletech.
