BANGALORE: Bharti Infotel (Bharti), a unit of Bharti Tele-ventures group that provides long distance services in India, has selected the Tellabs 6300 managed transport system to enhance and expand its bandwidth capacity. The Tellabs solution includes the Tellabs 6370 WDM node, a next-generation dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) solution, the Tellabs 6350 switch node, the world's most dense 4/4/3/1 digital cross-connect and the Tellabs6300 network manager, a single platform that manages the entire network. The new 14,500 kilometer network provides Bharti with an initial 10 Gigabit capacity and the option to scale and grow the network to 32 channels, each with 10 Gigabit capacity.

With the new deployments, Bharti has the ability to implement new Ethernet connectivity on its existing SDH network and to offer new carrier-class data services. The Tellabs 6370 node provides a robust platform that gives operators the opportunity to combine Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) functionality and DWDM technology in a compact manner. The Tellabs 6350 node is a high-capacity multi-service switching platform (MSSP) designed for a wide range of data, voice and leased line services. The solution is fully redundant, enabling Bharti to offer both broadband services and high availability to their carrier-class customers.

Director & CEO, Bharti Infotel, N.Arjun says, "With the Tellabs 6370 and the Tellabs 6350 nodes, we will now be able to offer a robust network offering high capacity and reliability, as well as more service options for our customers."

When the nationwide rollout is complete, Bharti can expect benefits from additional bandwidth capacity in its existing routes, enhanced capacity in new routes and better reliability in the entire network. The result is a network that is secure, fully scalable, flexible and highly manageable. This will enable Bharti to add more carriers to its network, provide additional bandwidth and offer better Service Level Agreements to its customers.

"The new network will enable Bharti to instantly increase capacity, add more carriers to its network and provide new services to its customers. The scalability feature of the Tellabs 6300 series also provides Bharti with a future-proof solution that allows for in-service upgrade options, so Bharti can now plan its network to closely match its capacity needs. This will enable Bharti to better cope with rapidly changing market trends and customer needs," states Arjun.
