Bharti Airtel crosses 75mn customers mark

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtel Limited today announced that its customer base had crossed the 75 million customers mark making it the largest integrated telecom company in India. The subscriber figure includes customers from all business units of the company - mobile services, telemedia services and enterprise services.

With 72.07 million mobile customers as of end of July 2008, Bharti Airtel further cemented in position as the 4th largest in-country mobile operator in the world. The company had achieved this distinction as of end of June 2008 and is well positioned to become the largest wireless operator in the world outside of China.

Commenting on this landmark for the company Mr. Manoj Kohli, CEO and Jt. MD, Bharti Airtel said, "We are happy to have achieved this milestone of being the largest integrated telco in the country, in customer terms. The company had crossed the 60 million customer mark in February 2008 and the 50 million customers mark in October 2007 making it one of the fastest growing telcos in the world.
