The long four-year wait ended yesterday at a special event at Cupertino's campus where Tim Cook unveiled the refreshed version of the MacBook Pro.

Let's start with 'Touch Bar', which we thought will be called 'Magic Toolbar. But it doesn't do any less magic. Doing away with the function keys, Apple has brought a mini OLED Retina display between the keyboard and screen.

Touch Bar, the flagship feature of the new MacBook Pro is a small multitouch screen that utilizes gestures and taps to perform a wide variety of tasks, from showing typing suggestions to displaying tools for various apps — all based on the context of what the user is doing at the time.

For example, you can scrub through a video in Final Cut or flip through images in the Photos app by sliding your finger along the photos on the Touch Bar. Or else, click into photos and you get a plethora of editing tools like cropping, photo straightening, and alignment, right there in the touch bar.

You can also customize the bar by dragging and dropping functionality down from the Notification Center. The bar also includes TouchID, which utilizes the new Apple T1 chip for security which supports Apple’s Secure Enclave security feature. You can use TouchID, to unlock the devices, as well as to make payments using Apple Pay.

Obviously, there's a default button available that will bring you directly to the all-time helpful Siri, Apple's AI assistant.

As several leaks had already suggested, the new Pro is thinner and the lightest version of the Pro to date. The 15-inch model, which weighs four pounds, is powered by a quad-core Intel i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and Radeon Pro (Polaris) graphics, which is said to be 2.3-times faster than before. Whereas, the 13-inch version, which is 14.9mm thick, making it 13 percent thinner than the Air, includes dual-core i5 or i7 processors and Intel Iris Pro graphics, along with 8GB of RAM and comes in at three pounds.

Next, is the humongous trackpad at the center which includes the Force Touch feature included on the standard MacBook.

Apple claims that the new Pro is 67 percent brighter and offers 67 percent higher contrast and sports 25 percent more colors than the last generation.

Coming to the ports, the new device comes with four Thunderbolt 3 ports that support USB-C, 10Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 and a DisplayPort 1.2, along with the headphone jack.

The new Pro is available in Silver or Space Grey color for order now, which will be shipped out within next three weeks.

As the company has also replaced the 13-inch MacBook Air with the new 13-inch MacBook version, the one with standard function key is priced at $1,499. With Touch Bar, the price goes up to $1,799. The 15-inch version is available at $2,399.
