SAN JOSE:The WebLogic Real Time 2.0, the latest Java real-time technology and the  only real-time solution with guaranteed microsecond pause times for standard Java applications with no special coding required will be rolled out soon, its creator BEA Systems announced recently.

BEA WebLogic Real Time 2.0 takes latency and performance to new levels with a guaranteed worst-case pause time of 10 milliseconds and average pause times as low as sub-millisecond, down from its previous ground-breaking 30-millisecond worst case. This improvement in performance is achieved through extreme optimization and new techniques for bounding latency. In some industry-specific, mission-critical applications, guaranteed sub-second latency can mean the difference of as much as millions of dollars per day in increased profit.

The product’s unmatched performance brings Java’s benefits of developer productivity and standardization deeper into domains such as financial trading and control systems that have traditionally been programmed in C or C++. In addition to bringing Java to industries with real-time requirements, BEA was also first to bring Java to virtualization and now to the event-driven service oriented architecture (SOA) market with WebLogic Event Server, a new product also announced today. WebLogic Real Time along with WebLogic Event Server and WebLogic Server – Virtual Edition provide the rock-solid foundation critical to enabling event-driven SOA and extreme transaction processing (XTP), demonstrating BEA’s continued innovation across its core WebLogic product family.

“BEA continues to be the world leader in Java-based technological innovation, taking the application to new areas while delivering unprecedented performance, predictability and scalability at a low total cost of ownership,” said Guy Churchward, Vice President of WebLogic Products at BEA Systems. “Unlike other Java platforms that claim real-time performance, WebLogic Real Time supports standard applications with no special architectures, language extensions or APIs. Version 2.0, with 10-millisecond worst-case pause time, is the new industry standard for latency-sensitive IT environments.”

Also new in WebLogic Real Time 2.0, is a latency analyzer tool that provides developers the ability to analyze and tune sources of latency in their applications, providing time resolution as low as nanoseconds. Because the latency analyzer does not impact the performance of the running application, it can be used in production to enable real-life analysis of critical applications. The tool significantly improves developer productivity and helps drive down latency for end-to-end applications, further demonstrating BEA’s leadership and expertise in the infrastructure instrumentation required to achieve reliable performance for enterprise mission-critical applications.

WebLogic Real Time is designed to help customers speed time-to-market for real-time applications and drives a lower overall total cost of ownership.
