WORCESTER, USA: Barry Communications, an innovative leader in network technology, and an authorized Allworx reseller, has announced the ‘Barry Managed Services’ offering to provide managed voice and data services to small and medium businesses (SMBs) throughout New England, in a simple and affordable manner.

Barry Communications’ Barry Managed Services (BMS) delivers a one-stop-shop, 24/7 voice and data system that includes monitoring, management and maintenance. It features a fixed-priced solution for Internet, dial tone, network management, spam blocking, backup and recovery, and support services, such as moves/additions/changes, training, product upgrades, and warranty assurances on the user’s investment.

In delivering the BMS model, Barry Communications becomes the outsourced telecom manager for many of its SMB customers, who do not have a dedicated IT department, and prefer to outsource their telecom needs. With Allworx, Barry Communications has the product line – core to this service - to meet the needs of SMBs.

“The concept behind the BMS offering is to make it easy for the customer. We do that by providing a single point of access - one call - to us, and we can address anything our customers need,” said Barry Gerhardt, CEO of Barry Communications. “With this approach, the customer receives fixed telecommunications costs for three years; they lower their phone bills; and they get access to new technology that improves their productivity and helps them run their businesses more effectively. It’s truly one of the rare instances where customers can get more for less.”

The phone system supporting the BMS model consists of the award winning Allworx 6x and 24x IP-PBXs, and the Allworx 9112 SIP phones. Featuring the lowest price point in the industry, Allworx hardware is sold to the customer as part of the BMS offering. With a dedicated internet circuit, SIP trunks from an authorized Allworx provider, such as Bandwidth.com, and a three year support contract, the BMS offering - including all of the complementary network management technologies - is delivered to customers to address all of their telecommunications needs for a small and predictable monthly fee.

“Before we got the Allworx system, each one of our offices provided customers with a different calling experience, such as different hold music - or dead air, and we weren’t able to project a unified brand,” said Barry Communications customer Tom Gori, Branch and IT Manager for Heritage Motors.

Barry Communications charges customers $40 per month, per phone for the BMS model. Many of Barry’s customers have already reduced their monthly phone bills by up to 50-percent. More importantly, these companies are gaining access to functionality from the Allworx system like:

  • Auto attendant and multi-site capabilities – which allows businesses to project a larger and more professional image by providing convenient 3-digit or 4-digit dialing plan across Allworx systems in multiple sites.
  • Call assistant functionality – which helps SMBs manage calls, forward calls, and easily transfer calls.
  • Remote user capabilities – which provide the flexibility of presence management, mobile convergence and unified messaging services that deliver voice mail from the home office to a remote user’s laptop or PDA.

These capabilities enable remote workers to simply plug their Allworx SIP phones into any internet connection, wherever they are - and the Allworx phone will navigate its way through the firewall back to the host IP-PBX, and function just as it would in the home office. This enables remote users to make VoIP calls and access the entire array of functionality on the road, without altering the call appearance, or their business identity to the person they’re calling. And because the Allworx system increases the productivity and responsiveness of the SMBs workforce, it also increases overall business performance.
