Barrett in India to promote 'Learn Program'

BANGALORE: Intel's chief executive and future Chairman, Craig Barrett is in India on a two-day official visit. Barrett is on an official tour to promote the 'Intel Learn Program' and will be also meeting with government officials in three states - Karnataka, Kerala and Uttaranchal, according to spokespersons.



The Intel Learn Program is part of the Intel Innovation in Education initiative, in collaboration with educators and government leaders all over the world to bring about innovation in teaching and learning and help students succeed in the knowledge-based economy.



The 'Intel Learn Program' involves teaching young people valuable technical skills through hands-on learning in a community technology center.



The chief of the world's largest chip maker, who was recently promoted to the post of Chairman of its board of directors, will also be giving a key note address to media and other executives on 'digital transformation' and the role Intel is playing in digital transformation. Intel has recently launched an aggressive campaign to push the digital home concept in India and Asia.



Barrett was in India two years ago and inaugurated one of Intel's development centers in Bangalore. During this trip, he will be meeting with government officials, media and partners in Delhi and Bangalore. The Asia tour also includes trips to Korea and China.
