Banning Chinese vendors will make 3G dearer: ZTE

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Network equipment maker ZTE Corporation, who recently came under the Indian Government's scanner owing to its Chinese connections and in turn was barred from supplying network gears to Indian operators because of security reasons, is taking measures to strengthen business ties among India and China.

While speaking at the China Business Forum held in Shanghai recently, he emphasized on the need to build a healthy competition in the Indian telecom sector.

D K Ghosh, chairman and managing director, ZTE Telecom India Pvt Ltd. emphasized the credibility of the company saying, “if Chinese telecom equipment companies are not allowed to operate in India, consumers will have to bear the brunt of such a scenario. the lack of healthy competition in the telecom sector will lead to extra costs of 3G services and hence result in high capex and opex of network deployment for telecom operators."

He further added that as a company listed in the Hong Kong & Shenzhen stock exchanges for over 25 years, ZTE has being supplying secured equipment and solution to over 500 operators in 140 countries.”

“We fully comprehend and respect the security concerns of the Indian Government and strictly adhere to the policies and laws of the country. While discussions and communication with the government is still on, we are sure that we will be getting a positive response from the government,” he added.
