Bangalore IT.com 2002 to attract larger audience

BANGALORE: Asia’s biggest international ICT (Information and Communication

Technology) event, BangaloreIT.com promises to be a great success emulating last

year in terms of participation and visitors to the event.

In a press conference, formally launching the event, Government of Karnataka

Minister of State for IT, D.B. Inamdar said, "BangaloreIT.com 2002 promises

to be the biggest ICT event in Asia. We have already got an excellent response

from companies and global governments to participate in the event. It is our

endeavor to facilitate companies and global governments to do business in

India."

Governments of Germany, Singapore, UK, Sri Lanka, Korea, Japan, Mauritius and

Bangladesh, Taiwan, Belgium and USA have confirmed participation, stated,

Government of Karnataka, IT Secretary, Vivek Kulkarni. A press release also

noted that states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi and Haryana have also

confirmed participation. To avoid the IT event fall on Diwali, which is on

November 3rd, the dates of Bangalore IT.Com this year have been

advanced to October 28th to November 1st, instead of the

regular dates of November 1st to 5th.

According to Bangaolore IT.com event manager CyberExpo Managing Director

Pradeep Gupta, about 30 per cent of the space has already been booked by about

50 companies. "This year the response level is higher with inquiries coming

in from all quarters," he added.

"This year’s event is targeted at a larger audience highlighting the

emerging sectors within IT like BPO, e-governance and banking and finance, which

are added to the 13 pavilions this year. The others include IT Nations, Tech

States, STPI, Telecom and Networking, Software Solutions, Bioinformatics,

Yuva.com, Spectrum, Infrastructure and BizInt," said Kulkarni.

In line with Karnataka's special emphasis on Bio-informatics, the Institute

of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) will offer an exclusive

short-term training course during the five-day event. The IBAB course will focus

on fundamentals of Biotechnology for senior management. The participants of the

course will get an insight into Bioinformatics software, platforms, wet lab

experimentation, DNA sequences, etc. The course is for exclusive participants

who would be specially invited by the organisers. The course would be held at

the IBAB institute in Whitefield.
