NEW DELHI: Bangalore IT.com, Asia's most recognized ICT (information and communications technology) event, is ideally poised to further take the country forward in terms of attracting foreign companies and exploring opportunities in different sectors. The event would be held from November 1 to November 5, 2004 in Bangalore.
Backed by the theme, "Shape the Future with ICMT", the seventh edition of Indian annual IT event will have a special focused pavilions in the areas like - animation, games and media technology. Other pavilions on infrastructure and e-security, spectrum, software solutions, IT giants, IT nations and STPI will be featured on a large scale.
"This year we are also going to have career stall for the BPO/ITES sector which is the country's largest job creator. The career stall would be a tremendous springboard to the industry and job seekers," said government of Karnataka IAS department of IT, biotechnology, science & technology Secretary MK Shankaralinge Gowda.
Talking about the business generated during the last years Bangalore IT.com he said. "Last year we estimated that this amount was around $200 million. This year also I would anticipate multi-million dollar deals to be done on the floor of Bangalore IT.com 2004 and in the subsequent months to come," he added.
While the last year's event attracted a total of 285 companies, this year the organizers are looking forward to getting participation of around 400 organizations for the event. Targeted towards addressing issues in the area of IT development, the event will have five different conferences in the areas of ICMT for development, knowledge & outsourcing summit, software, gaming and animation conference, technology summit and industry vertical conference.
As part of its rural programs, the organizers of the event are planning to take the "Student Internet World" to different districts, instead of holding it in Bangalore alone. About 50-100 computers would be installed in each district head quarter with Internet connectivity, providing an opportunity to over 1.5 lakh students to get initiated to the Internet.
