Bangalore to host TIE Entrepreneurial Summit

BANGALORE, INDIA: The TiE Entrepreneurial Summit 2008 (TES 2008), considered to be a top-ranking global entrepreneurial event, and the largest in Asia, will be held in Bangalore from December 16 to 18. The Summit is produced by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).

Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Pradeep Kar, president, TiE Bangalore chapter, said ‘Inclusive Entrepreneurship’ would be the theme of this year’s event.

“The summit will have participation of a number of TiE chapters around the globe,” he added.

The summit would feature successful and experienced entrepreneurs sharing their knowledge on global entrepreneurship over three days across 50 sessions.

“It is also planned to hold the TiE Links Global Charter Member programme, an invitation-only conclave of 100 thought leaders alongside TES 2008,” Pradeep Kar said.

KRIS Gopalakrishnan, CEO and MD of Infosys, who was the chief guest on the occasion, released the new logo of the annual event.

While addressing the media he said in the prevailing environment there is a need to look beyond technology and we need to lead in innovation. “Entrepreneurship must flourish to create more jobs,” he said.

Reflecting on TES 2008, he said, “The event is a culmination of everything that is happening in a single platform.”

Making a presentation of TES 2008, Ravi Narayan, chairman of TES 2008 said, “Our goal is to position TiE as a unifying force for global entrepreneurs worldwide by working with other organizations supporting entrepreneurship.”

Speaking on the occasion, Jehil Thakar, director, advisory services, KPMG, which is a partner in the event said, “There has never been a time like this for the entrepreneurs in India.” He said KPMG would release an entrepreneurship performance report.

The organizers said the summit will provide a comprehensive perspective of all aspects of entrepreneurship and creates a unique platform for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs from across industry segments to bond and share ideas, experience and business objectives.

Over 30 high-profile entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and thought leaders have already confirmed as speakers at TES 2008, including Prof. C K Prahalad, Dr. Carl Schramm of the Kauffman Foundation, Nandan Nilekani (Infosys), Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Biocon), Apurv Bagri (Chairman TiE), J P Solomon (Maya), Prof. Martin Haemmig (Stanford University), Prof. David Brophy (University of Michigan), Naren Gupta (Nexus India Capital), to name just a few.
