Balesh Sharma steps down, Ravinder Takkar joins as CEO of Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea announced that Balesh Sharma requested to step down as chief executive officer (CEO) of Vodafone Idea and company accepted his request yesterday. Blaesh Sharma is an old hand in the group and will be taking up a new role, which will be announced later. Mr. Sharma has been CEO of Vodafone Idea since the completion of the merger of the two telcos in August 2018. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer of Vodafone India.

Ravinder Takkar is now taking the reins of Vodafone Idea as chief executive officer with immediate effect. Mr. Takkar is with Vodafone group from the last 25 years and has worked in several leadership positions. Prior to this, he was CEO of Vodafone Romania for three years and CEO of Vodafone partner markets in London.

Takkar is currently a Board member of Vodafone Idea and Indus Towers, where he is responsible for all Vodafone Group interests in India, a role which he took on in 2017.
