BAE systems names new head for communications

NEW DELHI, INDIA: BAE Systems, a provider of security and defence services, today announced the appointment of Indu Anand as head of Communications, for Delhi-based BAE Systems India.

She joins the company from Citigroup and replaces Guy Douglas, who is returning to the UK to take up new responsibilities at the company’s UK headquarters, said a press release.

Indu, who reports jointly to Andrew Gallagher, chief executive and managing director, BAE Systems India and John Neilson, director of Communications, International, BAE Systems, will join the Company’s India Management Board.

She would be responsible for developing awareness of the global defence and security company’s business activities in India, which are based largely on mutually beneficial partnerships.

Andrew Gallagher, said, “Effective communication, to a wide and varied stakeholder group, is critical to the successful build-out of BAE Systems India. Our strategic objective is to become an integral part of the India’s domestic defence and security industry and I am confident that Indu’s depth of communications experience from a range of sectors, including financial services, advertising and IT, will make a significant contribution.”

The company firmly supports the Government of India’s objective of procuring 70 per cent of defence equipment domestically. The company’s strategy focuses on serving the armed and security services as well as the local economy through the creation of high quality jobs, the development of innovative technologies and system integration skills, in partnership with India’s world class companies, the release added.
