Aztec opens development center in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Aztec Software, a Bangalore-based company dealing with e-engineering solutions and product development, launched its development centre here today.

The company plans to invest Rs 500 million in Hyderabad in the next 3-4 years, according to its CEO V Chandrasekaran.

The 250-seater centre will grow into a 1500 employee organisation in the next 3-4, added Chandrasekaran.

The centre was inaugurated by Srini Koppulu, managing director of Microsoft India R&D Ltd. Srinivasan Chandrasekar, senior vice-president and Head of India business, will head the Hyderabad centre.

``Hyderabad is fast evolving as a hub of IT. There's the availability of rich talent pool. So Hyderabad is of strategic importance as far our expansion plans go,'' said Chandrasekar. ``Our main focus will be on product engineering,'' he added.

Incorporated in 1995, Aztec Software also aims to have a 1500-person centre in Pune and an additional 700-person facility in Bangalore. While the Pune project is expected to be ready towards summer, Bangalore's upliftment plan will be prepared later this year.

The company recorded a 114 percent in net profit to Rs 9.96 crore for the third quarter ending December 31.

``We would like to keep the momentum. Already the big players are there in Hyderabad. We would like to make use of that,'' said Chandrasekaran.

Recently Aztec had made its foray into wireless applications and embedded software.
