Avantor names MD for Electronic Materials Division in Taiwan

CENTER VALLEY, USA: Avantor Performance Materials, a global manufacturer and supplier of high-performance chemistries and materials, has named Austin Chen Chia-Ping, Ph.D., as managing director in Taiwan for the company's electronic materials division.

Chen will serve as the site leader for Avantor's Taiwan Technology Center and will work to grow and develop business in the company's electronic materials division. He also will oversee the sales and product application engineering teams.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, Chen has knowledge and expertise in process engineering, research and development, sales and marketing, business development, and general management.

Prior to joining Avantor, Chen served as director of strategic marketing in the Asia Pacific region for Dow Electronic Materials. He also held positions with Cabot Microelectronics Corporation and Honeywell Electronic Materials.

Chen earned his doctorate in materials science and engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States. He received his master's degree in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan.

Avantor electronic chemicals and materials are sold under the company's globally recognized J.T.Baker® brand and are used in front end of line (FEOL), back end of line (BEOL) and far BEOL surface treatment, including selective etch, post-etch residue removal, photoresist stripping and other processes in electronics manufacturing.

Situated in the heart of the Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing community, the company's Taiwan Technology Center develops custom collaborative solutions to complex surface treatment and preparation challenges across multiple global electronic technologies segments. The lab provides applications support, customer demonstrations and process of record (POR) development.
