BANGALORE: Autodesk India Pvt Ltd has launched Autodesk Inventor, a software that facilitates modern engineering, design and drafting with 'Adaptive Engine'. The company has also appointed Tata Elxsi as its master distributor for the product. Autodesk Inventor software, is the new 3D, feature-based, solid-modeling and drawing-production system. Adaptive design is a new process being introduced by Autodesk that allows users to design the way they think and collaborate more effectively with teams, supporting concurrent engineering and the reuse of complex design and manufacturing knowledge. The software's user interface, storage engine, design-capture technology, collaboration tools, and interactive assistance underscore the genuine innovation behind Autodesk Inventor. It treats design as a critical component of information to be integrated with the rest of the organization rather than a stand

alone technical aid.

Speaking about the new product, S Sridhar, Managing Director, Autodesk India said, "Autodesk Inventor has the potential to make the same kind of impact on engineers that AutoCAD software has made, by delivering adaptive technology, enabling single-day productivity, and significantly improving performance associated with large-assembly modeling. Based on the feedback from users so far, I believe we have the right approach to bring 3D modeling to a much broader range of users than competitive 3D products do today."

Tata Elxsi's role would include sales and marketing of Autodesk Inventor to select customers in the private manufacturing sector. Tata Elxsi would also distribute this product to the rest of the Indian manufacturing market through select Autodesk authorized resellers. Speaking about the association with Tata Elxsi, Sridhar said, " Iam sure that our customers will definitely benefit from this alliance and will make Autodesk Inventor their prime choice for their design automation needs." Tata Elxsi will be the sole distributor for this product in India.Autodesk Inventor is priced around Rs 2.2 lakh per license. The company is projecting to sell around 700 licenses in first year in India.
