Autodesk recently launched AutoCAD Architectural Desktop
Release 2. This extends the production drafting and design functionality of AutoCAD 2000
with features tailored to meet the needs of architects, engineers and other building
professionals.
The product offers more than 50 enhancements to the first
release, significantly increasing architects' productivity and design options and thus
helping reduce project costs and delivery time. It is the first commercially available CAD
solution that supports IFCI.5.1-based project model data exchange as defined by the
international alliance for interoperability.
The company also announced the availability of the AEC
Object Enabler 2.0 for AutoCAD 2000-based products, including AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD Map
2000, Volo View Express and 3D Studio VIZ 2.01 as well as the upcoming Autodesk Mechanical
Desktop Release 4 and AutoCAD Land Development Desktop Release 2 software.
The company recently started the ADNs or Autodesk
development network, an international network and plans to have 50 members by the end of
the current year. Apart from that, Autodesk is also planning to have 200 Authorized
Training Center (ATC) by the end of the current year. At present it has 100 ATCs in the
