BANGALORE: Autodesk, Inc., today announced the formation of a
new functional zone, the 'APac Emerging Geo,' encompassing India and Greater
China (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan).
In keeping with the company's stepped up priorities in India,
the formation of the new region will give the rapidly growing Asia Pacific zone
the best possible support.
Autodesk, recognizing the growing role of India as an
important, emerging global business destination, critical to its global growth,
is slated to announce further investments and market development strategies for
the country.
Dr Jack Gao, who has been appointed vice president for the
APac Emerging Geo, will report directly to Autodesk's headquarters in San
Rafael, USA. A proven leader with Autodesk, Gao first worked with Autodesk
between 1995 and 1999 and returned in 2003 as vice president of the Greater
China region.
Moreover, Gao will lead the Emerging Country Initiative Task
Force, which includes the APac Emerging Geo together with Russia and Brazil.
"The formation of the APac Emerging Geo encompassing
India is a reiteration of Autodesk's dedication to customers in India and the
region at large. We are committed to partnering our customers in their quest for
excellence and business leadership," said Gao.Â
In order to ensure that the APac Emerging Geo has direct
access to Autodesk's core leadership, the Emerging Geo Steering Committee has
been formed. The committee consists of Autodesk's chairman and chief executive
officer Carol Bartz, chief operating officer Carl Bass, senior vice president of
worldwide sales Ken Bado and Dr Gao.
