Atul Nishar to head Western India Council

MUMBAI: The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) today announced the election of Atul Nishar, chairman, Hexaware Technologies Ltd as the president for the year 2006-2007 and Brian Brown, managing director of Citigroup Global Markets' India Equity Business as vice-president for the Western India Council.

Nishar is the founder and chairman of Hexaware Technologies Limited, a Company that he set up in India in 1990. An FCA with Bachelor Degrees in Commerce and Law from Mumbai University, Nishar likes to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and believes in the power of empowerment. He is associated with several committees, which play an instrumental role in the development of IT Sector.

“It is an honour to be elected to such a prestigious position. The Chamber has been instrumental in strengthening the ties between the two nations. It will be our endeavour to widen the bilateral trade in several areas like IT, retail, entertainment, infrastructure and banking,” said Nishar.

Brian Brown is the managing director of Citigroup Global Markets' India Equity Business. This is a global full-service investment-banking and securities brokerage firm.

IACC works closely with the US Consulate to expand the multi-faceted relations between India and US. From a modest $ 21.68 billion in 2004, the Indo-US trade increased to US $ 26.77 Bn in 2005 representing an impressive 387 per cent growth in a span of 14 years.
