AT&T signs $1.6 billion-deal with Shell

BANGALORE, INDIA: AT&T has bagged a five-year deal worth approximately $1.6 billion from Royal Dutch Shell.

The deal makes AT&T the global provider of advanced communications services for Shell.

The deal is also largest commercial contracts signed by AT&T with a Europe headquartered company. The agreement is one of three outsourcing contracts that Shell signed for networking and IT services.

AT&T will provide, manage and maintain Shell’s worldwide communications infrastructure besides managing the company’s global mobility needs.

As per the contract AT&T will provide managed network services to Shell and its subsidiary companies in over 100 countries. The company will deliver wide area and local area networks, voice services (including Internet-based telephony), managed security solutions and mobility services.

AT&T had grabbed large deals from Starbucks, General Motors (GM), the U.S. Department of the Treasury and IBM last year. The agreements with GM and the Department of the Treasury are each worth up to $1 billion while the IBM deal is worth up to $5 billion.
