At 16, we bring you the new look & feel

BANGALORE, INDIA: CIOL, India's No 1 IT website is 16 years old. This young brand from South Asia's speciality media house CyberMedia has charted the course of IT Industry in India for the last decade and a half. Thanks to you readers, the journey has been tremendous and wonderful.

The journey in the last 16 years has seen tremendous advancement in technology. I am calling it the Access, Excess and Meshes.

Access: Devices accessing the internet have exploded. More people are using data networks through their mobile devices than ever before. Their source for information and seeking methods have changed. Change that has happened with innovation. Apple leading the pack with iPhones and iPads. Several smartphone manufacturers have and are following the bandwagon. From weather to booking your air tickets to maps to trading. You name it. There is an app for it. Access devices are going up and further north in the days to come, so are the apps.

Excess: Every second, I am told, a 90-minute video is uploaded into YouTube. That's one part only, imagine the "excess" of information that gets uploaded and residing in servers worldwide. Millions. Google gives you a wonderful search mechanism, so does Microsoft "Bing" - you still need to find the right and trusted source to decide. Sometimes you still are searching for the needle in the haystack. So with access devices also comes the excess, each one of these are contributing to the ever increasing content.

Meshes: Media Meshes have increased the utility of information for readers. Using multiple media consisting of blogs, websites and different content formats- Users today has enhanced experience and interactive possibility. Going forward again one will see tremendous meshes.

 

We at CyberMedia believe in this media mesh and our own media mesh is about impacting our reader communities making it much more meaningful and worthwhile for our readers. Our idea is to give our community of IT professionals, the information that will give them an "Advantage".

While creating this 'Advantage', Change is inevitable, for CIOL on its 16th birthday, you will see a new format of the content we bring to you daily.

Our stories on "Change" will encourage you to look at change "out of the box". You will hear, see and interact with individuals who have created change in their industries and organizations despite seasons of uncertainty.

My colleague and Executive Editor Srinivas, and his team will bring out their first set of stories for you starting 6th November 2012.

For those of you who would like to dive into technology, CIOL is now bringing you hot topic centers. There are several experts for you to learn from or contribute to.
