Asus Zenfone 5: A performer that stands tall against rivals

BANGALORE, INDIA: Affordable smartphones such as Moto G, Lumia 630, Intex Aqua i5 has also done quite well this year considering sales with the latest hit being Xiaomi Mi3. Budget smartphones are a buzz now and is on the rise.

Ausus hit the market with its 4, 4.5 and 6 inch devices starting at a reasonable price of Rs. 5, 999. And here is a brief review on the 5 inch Zenfone 5 smartphone.

Design and Display

With integrated sharp edges, Zenfone 5 has quite a design and its signature circular rings on the chrome finish metallic bar at the front that certainly adds a premium feel. The matte finish adds on to its syle which also makes the hold of it comfortable. The phone has a removal back panel and its battery is packed under a layer of plastic that also provides the dual SIM slots. The 5 inch HD display phone is sensitive and supprts 'Glove Mode' that makes it handy in winters.

Software:

The device has an integrated user interface of ZenUI over Android 4.3 Jellybean. This UI is in built with Asus tweaks, reading mode, Asus links for connectivity, miracast and also an Easy mode that makes the icons bigger, intended for the senior citizens. The UI seems quite promising and Asus is supposedly to update the device to Android 4.4 Kitkat.

The camera on this series has Pixelmaster technology that improves light sensitivity by combining pixels together which results in better imaging performance even in low light conditions. There is HDR, miniature effect, GIF, time-rewind, low light, smart remove, one touch lightening and all other possible tweaks for camera enthusiasts. If you are interested in photography, well its a good choice.

Processor and storage:

The device has a dual core Intel Atom processor with 2GB RAM and high end graphics games such as Asphalt 8 and Fifa 2014 which makes it worth it. It has an inbuilt storage of 8GB which is expandable upto 64 GB with the micro SD card. It provides a battery life of 2110 mAh battery, giving a four hour backup thus giving a mimimum of 9 hour usage on being charged once.
