“We are providing the match in the format which can be viewed on widely available 2.5G network,” said Jatin Ahluwalia, CEO, vRock Mobile Communications while speaking to media here today.

vRock has bagged the ‘mobile rights’ from Nimbus Sports via Offspin Sports and Entertainment for providing highlight of the cricket matches to be played at this tournament between India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The tournament will end by June 24.

This is one time right purchase deal between vRock and Nimbus Sports.

“We have been trying to take our content to masses through different platform. We have been using terrestrial transmission. We then took it on to web through cricket nirvana. This is the first time we are seriously experimenting on mobile platform. We will then evaluate the performance of mobile platform and then work out future strategies,” said Yannick Colaco, chief operating officer, Nimbus Sports.

According to Colaco this deal is limited to the ongoing Asia Cup tournament but Ahluwalia mentioned that it can go up to four years.

“The deal has been signed for this tournament and we have the first right to refusal for next two seasons, which means it can be extended up to four years,” said Ahluwalia.
