Ashwini Aggarwal joins Applied Materials

NEW DELHI, INDIA: ICT industry veteran and former MAIT ED Ashwini K Aggarwal has joined the US-based Applied Materials, a well-known Nano manufacturing technology company that facilitates electronic innovations. He will work as the director for government affairs in the organization.

Speaking to CIOL, Aggarwal said that his vision is to work with the Indian government and customers to create a vibrant, value-added electronics manufacturing sector in the country. "This vision is based on the thought of creating a ‘smart manufacturing program,” he said.

Aggarwal believes that India should overcome challenges and ensure global competitiveness. "Smart manufacturing will mean selecting precise sectors and segments of value-chain on priority basis, ensuring global competitiveness, coupled with “Smart R&D” to create local IP," he added.

The company's equipment and technologies are deployed in the leading semiconductor sector worldwide. With over 1,100 engineers in its engineering R&D center in India, Applied Materials is bringing state-of-the-art technology capabilities to the nation. It's also the technology provider for the solar cell manufacturing plant at Greater Noida.

Based out of Faridabad, Aggarwal has close to 30 years experience, and has served in a number of industry organizations. He has also written several white papers on commercial and technical aspects as well as insights into policy matters.
