Arun Thiagarajan, 200 others to exit the new HP

NEW DELHI: The current president of HP India, Arun Thiagarajan would be

exiting from the new entity of the HP and Compaq merged operations in India.

Although this was not official, the appointment of Balu Doraisamy, currently MD

of Compaq India, as the head of the merged operations of HP and Compaq in India

was official.

Doraisamy is also expected to be the head of the Enterprise Systems Group.

Along with Thiagarajan, sources say that the combined entity will shed close

to 150 to 200 people in the first stage with the number going up later on.

Currently there are close to 700 people working in Compaq India and another 300

odd in HP India.

Along with the appointment of Doraisamy, some other senior level appointments

have also been made, which are expected to be announced sometime in the middle

of next week.

Sources told CNS that Ravi Aggarwal who is currently VP (Business Customer

Sales Organization) of HP India, will head the Imaging and Printing Group. Ravi

Swaminathan, VP (Personal Systems) of Compaq India, is slated to take over as

the head of the Personal Systems Group. Kapil Jain will move on to head the

Services business from his current position of VP (Services) of Compaq India.

Neelam Dhawan who is Director (Sales) of Compaq India, will continue to look

after the sales activities of the new company.

Earlier in April, HP had announced the names of 150 senior managers including

those who will directly report to the heads of HP's new businesses and those who

will oversee HP's regional sales efforts in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East

and Africa, Latin America and North America.

Paul Chan has been appointed as the Regional GM (Asia Pacific) with

additional responsibility for the Enterprise Systems Group. Siaou-Sze Lien will

be the new GM (Services), Asia Pacific. Michael Hoffman has been appointed as

the GM (Imaging and Printing Group), Asia Pacific. Adrian Koch will be the new

GM (Personal Systems Group), Asia Pacific.
