Arun Gupta saying Ciao at Cipla

MUMBAI, INDIA: Industry veteran, and CIO at Cipla, Arun Gupta has decided to move on to new contours now. A little birdie tells us that Thursday July 31, 2014 would be his last working day at the pharmaceutical major.

Gupta recounts his journey fondly as he swivels his chair towards the exit door. “After selling medicines to make a world a healthier place I have decided to leave Cipla to pursue something new again. It has been a great journey in my second stint in the pharma industry with Cipla to set the long-term foundation with crazy number of projects running in parallel aided by an equally crazy team that believed in the vision and accepted the challenge. The result has been that Cipla is today in the forefront of technology use in the pharma industry. The ball is rolling and the momentum will keep the team busy and the company seeing the benefit to the business from the best of technologies.”

He takes pride in having created a Business Technology team, driving the change agenda with transformation enabled by refresh of legacy applications and new opportunities globally. While his next move is still a case of unspilled beans and curiosity, Gupta, who also blogs passionately about industry issues, certainly added a new colour to a well-tessellated career graph with Cipla, after having donned hats like Group Chief Technology Officer at Shoppers Stop Limited (retail) and Group CIO at K Raheja Corp (Construction, Hospitality) and earlier stints at Philips Electronics India Limited in the past.

We will keep you posted soon on the road he takes from here.
