Aruba 802.11n WLAN market share rises to 21pc

CALIFORNIA, USA: Aruba Networks Inc., a networking vendor selling enterprise wireless LAN and edge access networking equipment, announced that its enterprise 802.11n wireless LAN market share increased from calendar 4Q2009 to 1Q2010.

According to market research firm Dell'Oro Group's latest, "First Quarter 2010 Wireless LAN Report", Aruba's 802.11n market share rose to 21 percent, up from 17.3 percent in the previous quarter in both branded and OEM dependent access point unit shipments.

The company claimed that its total enterprise revenue and total enterprise unit shipments also rose, positioning Aruba as one of the top two enterprise wireless LAN vendors.

"802.11n is a disruptive networking technology that is causing end users to reassess traditional vendor relationships, and they are actively voting with their pocketbooks," said Chris Spain, VP, Product Management, Aruba. "Aruba is a major beneficiary of that market shift, and the result has been a surge in our 802.11n market share."

"With the transition to 802.11n in full swing, the wireless LAN landscape is being redrawn around the two market leaders," he added.

Aruba also announced the release of two compact, single-radio 802.11n access points. The entry-level AP-92 and AP-93 are priced at $395 US list.
