NEW DELHI: Artech India has decided to sponsor 'Artech-Dalmia Center for IT' at Banasthali Vidyapith, a more than 70-year-old institution dedicated to education pursuits for women.
Artech plans to invest Rs one crore in the center. The vidyapith would offer Bachelors and Masters degrees and MTech in IT at the new center.
Planned as a national IT education center for women, the Artech-Dalmia Center for IT would also support other departments at the Banasthali Vidyapith.
It will train women with a mix of software, hardware and communication technologies and would also enable R&D in this field. The center would be equipped with latest technological aids to impart better and faster education.
These would include internally networked specialized computer labs, communication lab, software engineering lab, multimedia lab, Gigabit LAN and high bandwidth Internet connectivity and videoconferencing ready seminar room.
Speaking on the occasion, Banasthali Vidyapith director Aditya Shastri said, “The center is expected to be operational by July 2007. This center is significant as a huge growth is projected in the IT sector, but a shortage of skilled labor force is also expected.
This center would help in increasing the participation of women in IT sector. We want to provide a world class IT facility to the whole campus and train women at the highest level.”
