New Update

SUWANEE, GA: ARRIS launched two new additions to the Touchstone family of CPE

products: the 8 line Touchstone TM508A and the 12 line Touchstone TM512A.

These two new Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapter (E-MTA) products allow
operators to address the small business and multiple dwelling unit market

segments with an integrated voice and high-speed data service offering.

In addition to 8 or 12 primary-line, toll-quality voice lines, these Multiline
E-MTAs include a 100BaseT Ethernet interface, all powered by a high performance

DOCSIS 2.0 modem and highly scalable DSP architecture. Building on the

Touchstone TM402/502 residential E-MTA products, the TM508A and TM512A include

advanced features such as programmable “Boost” loop current, provisionable

ringing wave forms, loop voltage policy settings and auto-adjusting Caller ID

signal levels. The units are packaged in a compact 1RU enclosure and support an

extended temperature range for utility closet installations. In conjunction with

a local power supply unit, 16 hours of service is provided following a

commercial power failure.

The Multiline Touchstone E-MTAs support PacketCable (NCS) call signaling with
support for SIP in future releases. The TM512A has been successfully

interoperated with leading call management servers, including the BroadSoft

BroadWorks VoIP application platform, CedarPoint Safari C³, Cisco BTS 10200

Softswitch, and Siemens SURPASS hiQ 8000.

One early customer of the Touchstone TM508A and TM512A is GCI Communication
Corp. of Alaska. Jimmy Sipes, VP, Network Services of GCI, said, “They are

making it possible for us to enter the MDU/small business services marketplace

with an economical and extremely efficient package.”
