Around 30 Indian cos to be present at CommunicAsia2005

NEW DELHI: CommunicAsia2005, a communications and IT event to be held from June 14 — June 17, 2005 at Singapore Expo, is expected to see increased participation by Indian companies. Around 30 Indian companies, nine of them being telecom firms, are expected to showcase their products along with global telecom companies like Ericsson, NTT DoCoMo and Worldsat at the forthcoming CommunicAsia 2005 Summit.






Covering the entire spectrum of the ICT industry, CommunicAsia2005 will feature the latest in broadband communications, enterprise solutions, mobile technology and solutions, network solutions, satellite technology, security and smart card and others.





According to Singapore Exhibition Services Pte Ltd chief executive and Allword Exhibitions Alliance president Stephen Tan, 2,344 companies from 52 countries are expected to exhibit in this year's CommunicAsia/EnterpriseIT2005 and BroadcastAsia2005.





Last year around 27,000 overseas business delegates had attended CommunicAsia and this year we expect more than 30,000 overseas delegates for the event. Last year there were 443 Indian visitors to CommunicAsia and 304 visitors to BroadcastAsia and we expect this number to increase this year.





Held together with CommunicAsia2005 is EnterpriseAsia2005, an exhibition that profiles IT solutions to help companies lower their cost structures and improve business processes.





Throwing light on the business potential of CommunicAsia2005, Tan said that 2,673 pre-registered visitors in this event have indicated a sourcing budget of $644.5 million. "There would be 17 group pavilions. Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) would lead the Indian group pavilion," he added.





Participants can also attend the CommunicAsia2005 summit and industry conference that includes CEO Perspectives, a series of panel discussion with top industry leaders, technology sessions and other tracks like mobile entertainment and digital lifestyles, mobile operator strategies, etc. Another key event is the fifth Asia Pacific Telecommunity Policy and Regulatory Forum organized by Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT), which 150 regulators are expected to attend.





A meeting of ministers from 10 ASEAN countries, India, China, Japan, Korea, etc. is also being held along with the event. Union minister for communications and IT Dayanidhi Maran is also going to attend this meeting.
