ARM to facilitate handsets for BSNL

HYDERABAD: ARM (Advanced Radio Masts), a Hyderabad based telecom major, is

all set to provide WLL and CDMA based handsets to BSNL for this year. The

company is going to manufacture the handsets at its manufacturing unit near

Hyderabad and the order is worth more than Rs 160 crore on completion.

The order involves an all India supply of more than 200,000 handsets to BSNL

for its various assemblers spread throughout the country. "It is a big

order for us and we are going to start the work within 15 days. For the handsets

we already have a tie up with Korea based Hyundai, so it is going to be a lot

easier for us to manufacture them within the country," said ARM VSM and

managing director, Krishna Nandan.

Over the years ARM has emerged stronger and larger in the area of

Telecommunications. The $40 million organization now has 10 divisions and each a

profit center in its own right.

"Every year we invest around 8 per cent of our turnover towards R&D

agenda that includes product reengineering and design improvement to meet the

growing requirements of the production process and customer," he added.

Products under development for the company include Radio-Access-Digital MARR,

Wireless in Local Loop, Spread Spectrum and Wireless Modems, Radio Transmission

- 15 GHz - 34 MB and 3 GHz - 34 MB among others.

The company takes up turnkey projects of Fiber optic transmission links (both

short haul &long haul routes), Local access networks, subscriber premises

wiring including supply, installation and commissioning of Optical Fiber

equipments.

Amongst the projects undertaken by ARM, Tata Cellular's Costa-Corridor

covering 700 KM between Vizag & Hyderabad is the largest in India awarded to

any Telecom Service Provider. "ARM's line of tailor-made solutions extends

to installation, commissioning and testing of diverse types of Antennas, radio

and other communication systems, besides ARM's own systems/equipment,"

Nandan explained.

The company is also engaged in the Software Development Business, Web Based

and Scientific Applications. Evolving from being a Software Solution Provider

for communication related products. ARM is also entering into a new era as an

Internet Service Provider for Web-based Solutions for e-commerce, EDI and Data

warehousing. With over 1,000 employees and production capacity spread across

five locations at Hyderabad the company is surely among the top-notch telecom

players within the sub-continent.
