Arena to offer PG program in animation

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Arena Animation, which is into animation and multimedia training, has announced on Wednesday the launch of a post graduate program in animation.

The program is being conducted in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Communication and Research (AICAR).

The 18-month residential postgraduate program is designed in collaboration with the University of the West of England (UWE), UK and validated by animation professionals, a press release said.

The course covers commercial aspects of animation, visual culture and communication, and research methodology, and includes a three-month studio internship at an animation house or production house of repute, it said.

It also offers an opportunity for the students to progress to UWE, UK to complete two additional modules spanning nine months and receive MA Media (Animation) from UWE.

This program would be conducted at Asian Institute of Communication and Research (AICAR), at Neral, Maharashtra.

Those who have a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least a one-year program in animation from an institute of repute or minimum 1-2 years of professional experience of working in the animation industry are eligible to apply.

Admission will be based on an entrance examination to be conducted on August 23 and 24, followed by a personal interview in September. The total intake for this program would be 50 students.

Announcing the launch of this program, R. Krishnan, global head, Arena said, "Arena Animation has always been the pioneer in animation education and training in India. Our collaboration with UWE is another step in ensuring international standards of animation education and training with the latest methodology and technology."
